Rental Information and Policies

The Grand Theatre offers individuals, companies, schools, and others  the opportunity to book the theatre for both private movie showings & community events. This is to produce additional income for the theatre while also providing a unique entertainment option for Stamford and the surrounding communities.

The Grand Theatre offers different theatre rental options: private parties, school showings, and public/community events. Each rental option has different prices as well as parameters around booking times.

Private Parties

Private parties are defined by requests to book the theatre for the purpose of hosting a party, meeting, etc. while also showing a movie of their choice.

1. Individuals, companies, and others may request to book the theatre for a private movie showing that can accommodate up to 350 guests.

2. The base cost to rent the theatre is $400, with a $100 non-refundable deposit due upon booking to secure the date/time selected. Pricing includes setup and cleaning fees.

3. Currently private parties are typically booked Thurs - Sun and are subject to blackout dates/times. Other days of the week (Mon - Wed) may be requested, but may be denied. Private parties may not be booked during scheduled movie times (Fri 7pm, Sat 7pm, Sun 3 pm) or when they would interfere with the normally scheduled movie times.

4. Concessions: Concession items are not included in our flat rate price. Individuals attending the party may pay for their own concessions, or they can choose to open a tab to pay at the end of the event. They may also pre-order concessions for the party ahead of time, and we can discuss a discounted rate depending on the size of the group. The full concessions menu is available to the guests during the movie.

5. Film Choices: We have a library of films that may be selected upon request. Those booking the theatre may choose to show their own film, but we ask that they bring the DVD or Blu-ray copy a day or two in advance so we can test for quality and audio. We do not allow private showings of films currently showing at our theatre during opening weekend.

6. Booking requests must be made at least 7 days prior to the requested date.

7. A limited number of tables may be set up in the foyer if requested.

8. Movies must be under 2 hours 30 minute run time.

9. Private parties are not to be advertised to the general public in any way (via social media, newspaper, etc); private parties are invite-only events.

Community Events

Public/community events are not requests for private movie showings. Individuals, companies, and others may request to utilize the theatre for conferences, meetings, workshops, trainings, etc., but may not request to show a movie. A movie request falls under “private party rentals” (see above).

1. Individuals, companies and others may request to book the theatre for public/community events Thursday thru Sunday during non-blackout times, on a case by case basis. All must be approved by management.

2. Individuals, companies, and others may also request to book the theatre during black-out dates/times (when normally scheduled movies occur - Fri 7pm, Sat 7pm, Sun 3pm) on a strict case-by-case basis. In order to book during black-out dates/times, the following requirements must be met:

  1. The event must be open to the community. No private/restricted parties.

  2. A minimum of $1,000 is required to book during the black out times/dates.

  3. If the normally scheduled movie is on the break/opening weekend or the first weekend of the showing then bookings are not permitted during black out times/dates.

  4. The Grand Theatre Board must approve all requests prior to approvals.
